Congratulations Joan!

We lift our voices in a chorus of huzzahs for the well-deserved recognition that director Joan Szymko has received from the American Choral Director's Association. They have awarded her this year's Raymond W. Brock Commission for a new piece to be premiered at divisional conferences of the ACDA in 2010 all across the country. This is an annual honor given to a composer who writes quality repertoire of lasting significance. Joan joins composers such as Daniel Pinkham, Gian Carlo Menotti, Morten Lauridsen, and Gwyneth Walker. We are delighted that the ACDA has acknowledged and celebrated Joan's creative spirit and accomplishments, recognizing, as we do, the power and beauty of her dreams.
